Tim Bosma: Dellen Millard Update

The story of Dellen Millard is curiouser and curiouser as each day passes.  It seems that the police have somewhat confirmed my initial thoughts on this case: Dellen Millard was likely running a chop shop out of one of the hangar’s belong to his family business.

This information comes as no surprise to me, as I have suspected all along that the tragic death of Tim Bosma was instigated  by a brazen criminal seeking a thrill; the type of thrill other criminal activities no longer provided.

As each week passes and we, the public, learn more about Dellen Millard, it seems that he is not the squeaky-clean, prep school boy his lawyer claims.  For one, he is connected to the disappearance of Laura Babcock, a beautiful, yet troubled young woman with a drug addiction problem.  The other company he keeps, his alleged co-conspirator in the Tim Bosma murder, Mark Smich, is sketchy as hell and has a long history with the criminal justice system.  I firmly believe the old saying holds true here: Birds of a feather, flock together.  And, we certainly have an interesting flock of birds here: drugs, fast cars, and money.

As the revelations keep pouring in, one thing that stands out to me is the “suicide” of Dellen’s father.  Sure, people do kill themselves, and sometimes with a gun.  What IS strange; however, is that the elder Millard allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the eye.  Most suicides by gun will either shoot in the temple or through the mouth.  Shooting oneself in the eye is a very rare method of suicide.  The police have every reason to be suspicious of this “suicide”.  Especially since it appears that Dellen went on a spending spree after his father’s death.

For a well-heeled prep-school graduate, Dellen Millard seems to be surrounded by an unusual amount of drugs, criminal activity, missing persons, and death.  With all this “coincidence”, it is more and more difficult to believe that he is completely innocent of any wrong-doing.

If I were to make any predictions in a case that becomes increasingly unpredictable, I believe that we will be hearing about further criminal activity that Dellen Millard may have been involved in.  I have a feeling that drugs are involved, grand-theft auto, and if law enforcement was to uncover other crimes such as break and enter, I would not be the least bit surprised.

It saddens me, still, that Tim Bosma likely died at the hands of individuals needed to get high on something more than drugs and auto theft.

Tim Bosma Update: Possible “Thrill Kill”

Tim Bosma’s murder has been on my mind for the last few days.  I feel heart-broken for his wife, child, and immediate family.

An inside new source has indicated that his murder may have been a thrill kill. 😦  If this is true, and we will only know when all of the facts come out, it is truly heinous.

As I mentioned in a previous post, it is entirely possible that the thrill of flying planes & helicopters and racing cars may not have been enough for Dellen Millard anymore.

If he has sociopathic personality disorder, he would need more and more stimulation.  One rumour has suggested that a chop shop may have been run out of a hangar or other building associated with the Millard family.  A criminal enterprise like that, which honestly sounds like something out of the Fast & the Furious, would certainly be a rush for someone with a need for stimulation.  If there is any truth to that, it is entirely possible that, because he & his friends were getting away with a criminal enterprise, they needed to up the ante.

Again, if Dellen Millard is guilty of the death of Tim Bosma, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that he has been participating in other criminal activities for quite some time now, activities that he has either not been caught for, or, that his family’s money has bought him out of.  Murderers do not typically wake up one day and decided to do a thrill kill, there is typically a period of escalating criminal behaviour that leads up to a crime such as the death of Tim Bosma.

On another note, I think Dellen Millard’s lawyer’s characterization of Dellen as a harmless prep school graduate has little merit in terms of his guilt or innocence of the crime.  We shouldn’t forget that Colonel Russell Williams was also from a well-to-family and he attended an exclusive private school, all the while, no doubt, indulging in dark fantasies.  Russell William’s prep school past did nothing to prevent him from sexually assaulting murdering Jessica Lloyd and Marie-France Comeau.

This story is far from over.  Other suspects are still on the loose and we do not have a good understanding of why this crime occurred.  I will keep updating as more information becomes available.

Tim Bosma

Canadians have waited with baited breath for a happy outcome in the disappearance.  Yesterday we found out that happy ending was not to be.  Tim Bosma, beloved family man with a gorgeous smile, was found dead on a piece of Ontario farmland.  A wife lost her husband, a child their father.  A family lost their son and brother.

Attention now turns to the man that is currently in custody: Dellen Millard.  His lawyer says Dellen, the 27-year old CEO of Millardair, with an envious pedigree from a well-known aviation family, is “completely in shock”.  Apparently he was a former prep-school kid from a well-to-do family, surely he couldn’t be involved in something as unseemly as forcible confinement, grand-theft auto, and apparently murder.

This is Canada, and Dellen Millard is surely innocent until proven guilty.  However, there is more and more damning evidence against Dellen Millard that is coming to light as time passes.  For example:

  • Tim Bosma’s truck was found in a trailer on a property owned by Dellen Millard’s mother
  • Tim Bosma’s body was found, burned beyond recognition, on farmland owned by Dellen Millard himself
  • Two eyewitnesses described a man fitting Dellen Millard’s description with an identical “ambition” tattoo
  • Police have indicated that they have traced the call made to Tim Bosma to a phone owned by Dellen Millard

Two other men are being sought by the police in connection to this tragedy.

But let’s talk for a moment about what we know of Dellen Millard.  At 27, he is young to be a CEO, and though he was CEO by default due to the death of his father and grand-father, it is still a powerful position to hold; a position that requires an aggressive personality.

I am not a paid expert here, and I am not suggesting that Dellen Millard is a sociopath, but I do think there is a great deal of interesting literature on sociopathy in the workplace.  At least 4% of the general population are sociopaths, marked with lack of empathy, devoid of conscience, and an inability to understand basic human emotions.  Again, I cannot diagnose Dellen Millard as a sociopath, but certainly, he could.

Sociopathy is often marked with thrill-seeking behaviour.  Here is a young man that was flying helicopters at age 14; that would be quite the thrill.  Is it possible this thrill-seeking behaviour has led to darker, more dangerous behaviour?  I think this is a very real possible.

If Dellen Millard really has participated in the forcible confinement and murder of Tim Bosma, I think we will soon find out that he didn’t just wake up one day and decide to commit murder.  If the accusations are true, I believe we will find out that Dellen Millard has been engaging in illegal and immoral behaviour for quite some time, hidden beneath of the veneer of wealth and privilege.  Drugs and other stolen vehicles are a possibility.  In a more intimate way, risky sex is another possibility.

As more information comes to light, it will be interesting to see how the other two suspects fit into this terrible crime.
