The story of Dellen Millard is curiouser and curiouser as each day passes. It seems that the police have somewhat confirmed my initial thoughts on this case: Dellen Millard was likely running a chop shop out of one of the hangar’s belong to his family business.
This information comes as no surprise to me, as I have suspected all along that the tragic death of Tim Bosma was instigated by a brazen criminal seeking a thrill; the type of thrill other criminal activities no longer provided.
As each week passes and we, the public, learn more about Dellen Millard, it seems that he is not the squeaky-clean, prep school boy his lawyer claims. For one, he is connected to the disappearance of Laura Babcock, a beautiful, yet troubled young woman with a drug addiction problem. The other company he keeps, his alleged co-conspirator in the Tim Bosma murder, Mark Smich, is sketchy as hell and has a long history with the criminal justice system. I firmly believe the old saying holds true here: Birds of a feather, flock together. And, we certainly have an interesting flock of birds here: drugs, fast cars, and money.
As the revelations keep pouring in, one thing that stands out to me is the “suicide” of Dellen’s father. Sure, people do kill themselves, and sometimes with a gun. What IS strange; however, is that the elder Millard allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the eye. Most suicides by gun will either shoot in the temple or through the mouth. Shooting oneself in the eye is a very rare method of suicide. The police have every reason to be suspicious of this “suicide”. Especially since it appears that Dellen went on a spending spree after his father’s death.
For a well-heeled prep-school graduate, Dellen Millard seems to be surrounded by an unusual amount of drugs, criminal activity, missing persons, and death. With all this “coincidence”, it is more and more difficult to believe that he is completely innocent of any wrong-doing.
If I were to make any predictions in a case that becomes increasingly unpredictable, I believe that we will be hearing about further criminal activity that Dellen Millard may have been involved in. I have a feeling that drugs are involved, grand-theft auto, and if law enforcement was to uncover other crimes such as break and enter, I would not be the least bit surprised.
It saddens me, still, that Tim Bosma likely died at the hands of individuals needed to get high on something more than drugs and auto theft.
